Happy Tuesday, Fam!!!
I’m super excited to be back on the blog again so soon(!!!), this time with a special spotlight on ‘Black Neon’, the most recent release from progressive producer Aura Riddle, aka Aural State, which dropped this past Friday, October 25.

The instrumental follow-up to her progressive house remix of Robyn Cage’s award-winning single ‘Warrior’, which dropped back in May, ‘Black Neon’ is the lead single from Aural State’s upcoming 3 song EP, ‘Kindred’, which is slated to drop in early 2025.
Coming to us on her own label, Threshold Recordings, ‘Black Neon’ is an atmospheric sonic adventure, fully loaded with complex instrumentation largely built from sounds Aura designed herself, independent of preset packs.
(My personal favourite happens around the 1:05 mark, where she’s included what sounds like a puddle jumper coming in for a landing. 😊)
A full 7 minutes and 16 seconds long, this dynamic track evokes images of sneaking through private server rooms (& other places you might find Sydney Bristow), building to a ‘Neo vs the machines’, sunshine above the clouds style breakdown, before the kick comes back in, and we’re racing through the underground once more.
From the sparse yet driving intro, straight through the final etheric flicker, ‘Black Neon’ highlights Aura’s ability to blend cutting edge technology with analogue audio traditions, resulting in a timeless track that would sound right at home in your favourite ‘Blade Runner’ — whether you prefer the original or 2049.
An excellent introduction to the Aural State catalogue, assuming you’re not already familiar with her work, ‘Black Neon’ is available now, wherever you like to listen. Click the link below to check it out.
I’m keeping the short and sweet train rolling here rn, Fam, but if you’re interested in learning which other tracks made my Top Drops for Friday, October 25, pop on over to my Linktree for the full list & links to listen.
Until we meet again, thanks as always for stopping by.
